Ashgold & Inter Allies' appeal sinks

1997 CAF Champions League finalists, Ashantigold’s appeal against their demotion to the third tier of the Ghana Football leagues has been rebuffed.

The ‘Miners’ were in May, 2022 found guilty of match-fixing in the 2020/21 season when they mauled then relegation bound, Inter Allies FC by 7-0 at the Len Clay Stadium.

In the said game, a substitute defender of the away side, Hashmiu Musa scored two own goals on purpose with post match claims that he heard the game was fixed and wanted to make sure it did not end as planned.

Both clubs were found guilty and punished by the Ghana Football Association. However, Ashantigold put in an appeal hoping to keep their Premier League status.

They will also participate in the 2022/2023 Division Two games.

With the appeal denied, the four time Champions of the Ghana League will have to pay the fine of Ghc100,000 ($12,345.75) as ordered by the Disciplinary Committee of the Football Association.

Decision from the Appeal

The club’s President, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong and his son, Emmanuel Frimpong, the Chief Executive Officer will serve their bans as given.

Players of the club who were banned will also have to conform with the sanctions given them by the Disciplinary Committee.

Berekum Chelsea not ready to sell Ainsu to Local Rivals

Berekum Chelsea have sent a message to local clubs offering to sign the defender to back off as they will only release him to foreign clubs.

We have been told that Aisu is being chased by Asante Kotoko, Accra Hearts of Oak, Bechem United and one other club but Berekum Chelsea insist to keep the defender for foreign offers from Some part of Europe, Portugal and Poland to be precised, per reports.

Eminent GPL attacker names Afriyie Barnieh as his best player

 Top Accra Hearts of Oak attacker Kojo Obeng junior has chosen his teammate Daniel Afriyie Barnieh as the best player in the Ghana Premier League.

The Black Stars youngster has been the club’s livewire since last season, helping them to back-to-back FA Cup triumphs and the 2020/21 league title.

His goal also helped the club to win this year’s President’s Cup against Asante Kotoko.

In an interview with Berekum Based radio station Akwaaba, Obeng Junior named the 21-year-old AFCON winner as his best player but claimed Asante Kotoko’s Frank Etouga Mbella is good in terms of goal scoring.

“Barnieh is so talented and skillful. He makes things so easy for us on the field.

“Mbella is a good player, he is Soo good in goalscoring but Barnieh is skillful, talented and a goalscorer,” says Obeng Junior.

Kojo Obeng Junior is one of the longest serving players at the camp of Accra Hearts of Oak. He has done extremely well to see what he surely deserve for him and the club.

He joined the record holders of Ghanaian FA Cup prior to the 2018 Ghana Premier League from lower tier side Nea Salamina, where he banged thirteen (13) goals in the Division One League and topped it with three goals in the MTN FA.
